The Bonny National Grammar School (BNGS) Senior Secondary Section says the 110 classroom desks donated to the school by the SCD JV (Saipem, Chiyoda and Daewoo Joint Venture) will foster a conducive learning environment for the students.

A statement on behalf of the management, staff and students on Friday, June 6, 2025 signed by the Principal of the School, Gift Nweke in Bonny, Rivers State, also thanked the Bonny Kingdom Development Committee (BKDC) for its efforts in galvanizing development in the area.

“We, the management and students of BNGS Senior, would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of 110 sitting desks to our school.

Your contribution will significantly enhance the learning environment and provide our students with comfortable and conducive spaces to focus on their studies.”

The BNGS management described as “truly commendable” the commitment of the SCD JV and BKDC to the educational advancement of Bonny LGA, noting that such gesture will ensure sustainable impact in the school and its students.

“Your commitment to supporting education in our community is truly commendable, and we appreciate your investment in the future of our students.”

“Your kindness and generosity will have a lasting impact on our school and the lives of our students.”

“We also use this medium to appreciate the Bonny Kingdom Development Committee representative, Sir Ibifuro Brown and the CLO of the company, Abiye Brown-West for their efforts to making this feat possible.”

“Thank you for your kindness and support. We look forward to continued collaboration and partnership.”

Established in December 1965, Bonny National Grammar School, formerly Government Secondary School, Ogugumanga, was the foremost co-educational institution in Nigeria’s eastern region before the establishment of other secondary schools such as Government Girls Secondary School, Finima in 1977.

Its celebrated history became marred by government neglect, infrastructural decay and dearth of qualified teachers, rendering it as a ghost of its past glory. Thus, the intervention by the SCD JV became a stitch in time that saves nine.
