Evomec Global Services Limited (EGSL) says it created a bypass for residents of the township axis of Bonny in Bonny Local Government Area as a gesture of relief due to the commencement of Loop 2A of the road expansion project.

Project Manager of the Bonny Road Expansion Project, Oboho Asanwana told Kristina Reports on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 in Bonny that it was the company’s gesture of goodwill to residents of communities in that axis.

Loop 2A of the project, which is the last lap of the road expansion project spanning from the gate of the Bonny Oil and Gas Terminal (BOGT) to Coal Beach, commenced a week ago.

It begins from Amaomu junction and terminates at King Asimini Bypass by Holy Trinity Church, Bonny.

This effectively shuts down access to and from Madupolo, Igonipolo, Elesu, Polo Nwator, Fruit of Labour, Allison Compound, and several other quarters, communes and clusters of residences in the township area.

The bypass created by Evomec now connects from King Asimini Bypass to Sandfield junction by former All States Trust Bank, effectively opening up access through Sandfield Road to Amaomu junction and across into Court Road and Cable Road.

Commuters can now have access to the Coal Beach, Women’s Hall, Customary Court, King Perekule Palace, Allison Square, Ikuba Nungo, and Igonipolo Waterfront (for travelers through Bodo Waterside), among others.

Some residents of the area, who spoke to Kristina Reports, commended Evomec for showing empathy and being humane as it executes the road project, applauding the speed with which it was pursuing the project.

They also commended the Bonny Kingdom Development Committee (BKDC) for its sustained surveillance on the project, urging it to continue to hold the project implementer to account at every stage of the project.

The accolades also went to the project sponsor, the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) for funding the project under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) for its Train 7 project.
