Alabo Charles Douglas Mac-Pepple Jaja has emerged the Amanyanabo and Treaty King of Opobo Kingdom in Rivers State, Nigeria.
The announcement, which was made on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 by the Council of Alapu of Opobo Kingdom in Opobo, Rivers State, is in line with the Kingdom’s extant tradition.
Amanyanabo-Elect: Alabo Charles Douglas Mac-Pepple

Alabo Charles Mac-Pepple Jaja is the younger brother of His Majesty, late King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, Jeki V, Amanyanabo and Treaty King of Opobo, who, according to Ibani custom and tradition, has transmigrated to the great beyond to join his ancestors.
Prior to his proclamation, Alabo Charles Douglas Mac-Pepple Jaja was the Alabo of the Mac-Pepple Jaja War Canoe House.
The new King will upon his coronation bear King Jaja of Opobo and most probably Jeki VI succeeding his elder sibling.

The passing of the late King was announced earlier today by the Council of Alapu of Opobo Kingdom, alongside funeral arrangements in his honour.
It is trite to state that Opobo and Bonny Kingdom, which share same Ibani ethnicity, have similar traditions and customs, as will be on display during the coronation of the new Amanyanabo.
