The United States Military carried out drone strikes in Venezuela while its special forces team made an incursion into Mar-a-Lago and captured President Nicholas Maduro, President Donald Trump has announced.
Trump shared this in a tweet in the early hours of Saturday, January 3, 2026 through his X (formerly Twitter) handle.

“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country.”

He also confirmed that the operation was carried out with the collaborative efforts of US law enforcement.
Maduro, who was captured by a team that included elite US special forces, including the US Army’s Delta Force, was indicted in US federal court in 2020.

The conviction covered narco-terrorism and other charges including running what prosecutors called a scheme to send tonnes of cocaine to the United States.
President Trump, however, also shared that more information about the strike and the capture of Maduro will be shared later on through a press conference later today.
