Nigerian midfielder Clinton Jephta continued his impressive run of form in the Finnish Veikkausliiga, providing an assist as FC Inter Turku secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over local rivals TPS on Saturday at the Veritas Stadion.
The Nigerian playmaker has now registered assists in consecutive league matches, underlining his growing influence in Inter Turku’s title push.
Clinton Jephta Extends Goal Contribution Streak
After setting up a goal in Inter Turku’s 3-1 win over Ilves in their previous outing, Clinton Jephta once again showcased his creativity by creating the opening goal of the contest.
The breakthrough arrived in the 15th minute when Jephta produced a moment of quality.
His intelligent movement pulled a defender out of position before he delivered a perfectly weighted lofted pass into the path of Alie Conteh.
The Sierra Leonean forward responded with a precise header to hand Inter Turku an early advantage and reward Jephta with another assist.
The Nigerian star has now been directly involved in six goals in his last five appearances, recording three goals and three assists during that impressive stretch.
Inter Turku Keep Winning Momentum at the Top
TPS fought back in the 29th minute as Lasse Ikonen finished off a move created by Elmer Vauhkonen to level the score.
However, Inter Turku regained the lead just before halftime when Jasse Tuominen converted Loic Essomba’s assist in the 41st minute. The strike ultimately proved decisive in an entertaining derby clash.

Despite second-half pressure from TPS, Inter Turku held firm to secure all three points and local bragging rights.
The victory keeps Inter Turku firmly at the summit of the Veikkausliiga table, maintaining a four-point lead over their nearest challengers.
It also extended the club’s unbeaten run to five consecutive victories across all competitions.
For Clinton Jephta, the latest assist takes his season tally to seven goal involvements — three goals and four assists in just seven league appearances — further highlighting his importance to Inter Turku’s outstanding campaign.
