Gov. Fubara Inaugurates 105-Bed Omoku Zonal Hospital

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Friday, August 21, 2026, inaugurated the 105-bed Zonal Hospital in Omoku, ONELGA, and urged residents to protect the facility from vandalism.

Fubara described the hospital as a key investment in healthcare for the Orashi region. He said it is one of three zonal hospitals in Rivers West Senatorial District, with Ahoada already commissioned and Degema at furnishing stage.

The governor noted the facility will serve Omoku, Egbema, Ndoni, parts of Ahoada, and other neighbouring communities. He charged traditional rulers, youth leaders, and the community to take ownership of the hospital, warning that those saddled with its protection will be held accountable for any damage.

The Oba of Ogba Land, Dr. Nwachukwu Obuoha Obi III, commended the governor for the hospital and the completed 33.5km Elele-Egbeda-Omoku dual carriageway, saying both projects will boost health and security in the oil-rich area.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Vincent Nwachukwu, said the hospital will also cater to residents of Ahoada East, Ahoada West, Emohua, and parts of Ikwerre LGA.
