As a measure to cushion the harsh effects of old age, the elderlies across 15 communities that comprise Ward 10 would now be receiving monthly stipends to be managed by his office, the Leader of Bonny Legislative Assembly, Kingsley Jumbo has announced.

Jumbo, who also represents Ward 10 in the Bonny Legislative Assembly, announced this on Friday, November 28, 2025 during an interactive meeting with Community Heads in his Ward.

He stated that the payment of the stipend would commence by January 2026 and would capture 12 persons per community to be chosen by the Community Heads.

The beneficiary communities include Alasiakiri, Arugbana-Ama, Ayaminima, Burukiri, Epelema, Fuakpa, Georgekiri, Iloma, Minima, Oloma, Otokolomabie, Orupiri, Owupiri, Polokiri and Sangamabie.

He explained that the gesture is part of his “Thank You” to the elderlies for their support and prayers upon which he said his re-election victory as Councillor of the Ward was etched on, and by extension birthing the first Legislative Leader to emerge from the Ward.

He urged the Community Heads to be fair in their selection and rotation of the names to be sent monthly for the stipends.

“Once I am paid for the month, all the elderlies of that month sent by the Community will equally receive their stipend, this will continue as long as I remain in office by God’s grace, it may seem small or appear big but it’s genuinely from my heart and that’s all that matters to me”

He appealed to the Community Chairmen, both those present and those represented, to prioritise unity of purpose, cooperation and support for the government, as well as synergy among all community structures within the Ward.

He reiterated his commitment to total inclusion, assuring that every Community and group will be carried along in governance, representation, and developmental initiatives.
