One Casualty, Two Survivors Rescued from 4-Storey Building Collapse in Port Harcourt

One person is reportedly feared dead while two others were rescued alive from a collapsed four-storey building under construction along Peter Odili Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to eyewitnesses, the building suddenly came down in the morning hours of Wednesday, June 24, 2026, trapping several construction workers beneath the rubble.

Kristina Reports gathered that rescue efforts are currently ongoing as emergency responders and residents frantically work to save those trapped in the rubbles.

Speaking at the scene of the collapse, the acting Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Health, Vincent Wachukwu gave details of the situation.

“We’re here at Peter Odili Road, following the disturbing news this morning that a four-storey building collapsed around here.”

“We got this information and as a health team, we had to quickly mobilise ambulances and as much personnel as possible to come for the rescue.”

“So far, they’ve been able to rescue two persons that were severely injured, and they’ve been rushed to Rivers State University Teaching Hospital. Of course, we’ve also activated the hospital, the emergency medical services are there then the emergency unit in the RSUTH is also there.”

He assured that everyone trapped under the rubble will be rescued and given proper medical attention.

Our correspondent reports that the security and humanitarian agencies including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Federal Road Safety Corps, The Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence, and so on were also at the collapse site to manage the situation.
