A pall of mourning has fallen over Oyorokoto, West Africa’s largest fishing settlement in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State as a man allegedly murdered his wife following a domestic dispute.
Sources in the area told Kristina Reports that the incident occurred on Monday, June 23, 2025.

The altercation began when Mr. Oron had an argument with his wife, Rhoda Oron, over an undisclosed matter. This escalated into a violent fight.
Reliable sources told Kristina Reports that both Oron and his now deceased wife, Rhoda, both hail from Ngo Town, headquarters of Andoni LGA.
Kristina Reports further gathered from residents of the fishing settlement that Oron’s wife, Rhoda, became unconscious after the fight that broke out and was quickly rushed to a nearby medical facility.
Sadly, reports have it that though the medical personnel at the clinic reportedly diagnosed internal bleeding ostensibly sustained from the fight, they could not give her proper treatment.
She was allegedly confirmed dead in the early hours of Monday, June 23, 2025 while preparations were being made to take her to the General Hospital at Ngo.
The couple, who sources say have been married for almost 30 years, are blessed with three children, and have been residing at the Oyorokoto Fishing Settlement for years.
Though sources say the incident has been reported to the Nigeria Police Force at Ngo Division in Andoni LGA, there was no official statement on it yet from the Police high command in the State.
Domestic violence, especially, the gender-based violence, remains a significant challenge in recent times with civil society organizations and law enforcement agencies working tirelessly to awareness about it.
The impact on children who lose a parent – or both – is devastating, potentially leading to long-term emotional trauma and societal consequences.
These hapless children may spend the rest of their lives mourning the unfortunate loss, as well as trying to figure out what actually happened.
Society may also have to deal with the bigger implications of such children growing up into damaged adults who ultimately represent a danger to everyone.
