A traditional festival in Amangbala, Ohaisu community of Afikpo, Ebonyi State, turned tragic this Monday when a young man identified as Peter was stabbed to death. The incident happened around 1 a.m. inside the Ogo Amaokwu-Amangbala chamber, where youths were preparing for the Iko Ohaisu festival.
Trouble reportedly started when a youth named Daniel entered the chamber and demanded a ₦1,000 levy from those present, claiming he and his group had cleaned the place. Witnesses said Peter told him he had no money, and the argument escalated into a fight. According to community member Oyim Chukwuemeka, Daniel attacked Peter with a broken bottle and fled.

Peter was rushed to Maranatha Hospital but was confirmed dead due to severe bleeding. Angry youths later caught Daniel and handed him over to security operatives, as tension spread across the community and disrupted the festival atmosphere.
