A large crowd of Abians on Friday, January 30, 2026, converged on the Enyimba Township Stadium, Aba, to publicly endorse the administration of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, passing a vote of confidence on his leadership and signalling support for its continuity.
The civic reception, hosted by the Ukwa La Ngwa people, drew residents from across the state, with the stadium and surrounding areas filled to capacity. The event was widely seen as a strong show of approval for Governor Otti’s performance and the reform-driven “New Abia” agenda.

The reception followed weeks of consultations and mobilisation meetings coordinated by the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Nwaobilor Ananaba, alongside key stakeholders in Ukwa La Ngwa, aimed at building consensus and consolidating support for the governor.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional institution, one of the monarchs who asked to be anonymous, described Otti’s administration as transformative, noting that ongoing projects and policy reforms have restored confidence and dignity in governance across the state.
“The last 2 and half years in Abia State has been a total turn around. We have seen changes that we didn’t expect to see and I must say, on behalf of the ndị eze, the traditional rulers, that we are impressed with the journey so far.
He assured the governor of the unwavering support of the Ukwa La Ngwa people and their readiness to sustain his vision beyond the current tenure.
“Otti has our support. There is no going back on that. We are here to pledge and show how much we are for him because we love good things”.
Youth leaders at the gathering also passed a vote of confidence on the governor, pledging continued mobilisation in support of his administration, while calling for greater youth participation in governance and economic decision-making.

The event ended with a collective reaffirmation of loyalty to the Otti-led government, as stakeholders described the massive turnout as a clear political statement in favour of stability, continuity, and people-centred governance in Abia State.

Several prominent political figures attended the event, including former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara; Enyinnaya Abaribe and Darlington Nwokocha; local government mayors, government appointees, traditional rulers, youth and women leaders, as well as other community stakeholders.”
