Super Falcons midfielder Deborah Abiodun and forward Gift Monday have taken centre stage in the launch of Washington Spirit’s striking new jersey, known as the ‘Spirit in Bloom’ kit.

The Nigerian duo helped present the club’s latest design, which draws inspiration from the famous cherry blossom season in Washington, D.C.

The new look blends football identity with the culture and natural beauty of the American capital ahead of the upcoming season.
During the unveiling event, Deborah and Gift featured prominently as the club displayed the kit’s unique design concept.
The jersey is built around a deep green base that reflects the flow of the Potomac River, while soft cherry blossom petals appear across the front.

The design highlights the city’s famous spring scenery and symbolises both growth and energy for the team.
According to the club, the kit was created to celebrate the bond between the team and the culture of Washington, D.C., blending elements of nature, identity and football tradition.

The vibrant design combines blossom pink with spirit green, answering long-standing calls from supporters for a cherry blossom-inspired jersey.
The branches stretching across the front of the kit also represent the Potomac and Anacostia rivers that shape the District’s landscape.
On the pitch, both players will be aiming for strong campaigns in the upcoming National Women’s Soccer League season.

Last season, Abiodun made 10 league appearances and provided one assist for Washington Spirit.
Meanwhile, Monday enjoyed an impressive campaign, scoring 10 goals and adding two assists in 25 matches.
With the new season set to begin next Saturday, the Spirit will open their campaign against the Portland Thorns as the Nigerian duo look to build on their performances and help the club push for success.
