Abua/Odual Local Government Council has committed to making its Back-to-School Project an annual programme, while commencing school renovations and developing an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Centre, the Chairman, Owolobi Michael Ofori, has announced.
The Chairman, who was represented by the LGA’s First Lady, Dr. Stella Michael Ofori, disclosed this on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Government Commercial Secondary School, Okpeden South.

According to him, these initiatives are all aimed at improving students’ access to modern learning and examination facilities, .
He said the initiative, which provides school bags, books and other learning materials, would expand beyond the pilot schools to reach more schools across the LGA.

Ofori said the proposed ICT centre would enable students to access facilities for examinations such as JAMB and WAEC within Abua/Odual, reducing the need to seek such opportunities elsewhere.

The Abua/Odual Chairman described the intervention as an investment in the future of the area, sayingnthat the programme also recognised academically outstanding students.
Urging others to emulate them, the Chairman cited a son of Abua/Odual who emerged as the best graduating student in Medicine this year, declaring that the achievement demonstrated the potential of children from the area to excel.

He challenged students to pursue their ambitions with discipline and hard work, while urging teachers to instil integrity, responsibility and a sense of service alongside academic knowledge.

The Back-to-School Project is part of the Uru Odighi Administration’s stated education agenda, which includes learning support, school infrastructure improvements and plans to bring modern examination facilities closer to students across Abua/Odual.
