ADC Faults Tinubu’s 30-Day Fuel Price Reduction, Urges Nigerians to Prepare for Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State has criticised the Federal Government’s 30-day fuel price adjustment, describing it as a deceptive measure aimed at distracting Nigerians from the country’s economic challenges and realities.

The party said the temporary relief announced under President Bola Tinubu’s administration was insufficient to address the hardship Nigerians had experienced since the removal of fuel subsidy in 2023.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary in Khana LGA, Wisdom Kagbara, the ADC expressed concern over rising inflation, the high cost of living, widespread hunger, escalating insecurity and what it described as the weakening of national institutions. The party argued that Nigerians deserved sustainable economic recovery and accountable leadership rather than what it termed temporary palliatives packaged as progress.

It maintained that the short-term fuel price adjustment would not adequately address the economic difficulties confronting citizens or restore public confidence in the government.

The ADC in Khana LGA consequently urged Nigerians, particularly residents of Khana and Rivers State, to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards, register where necessary and update their voter information ahead of the forthcoming elections. According to the party, the elections present an opportunity for citizens to demand a positive change in the management of the nation’s resources.

The ADC further expressed confidence in its capacity to provide what it described as accountable, transparent and people-centred leadership capable of restoring public trust and improving the country’s fortunes. The party called for deliberate and decisive action to address the nation’s challenges, insisting that Nigerians deserved better governance and an improved standard of living.
