The Super Eagles are turning heads at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, and midfielder Alex Iwobi has opened up on the secret behind their flawless campaign.

The Nigerian team has won all five of their matches, scoring a record 14 goals and showing remarkable consistency on the continent’s biggest stage.

Brotherhood and Unity Power Super Eagles’ AFCON 2025 Success

Iwobi credited the team’s success less to tactics and more to the strong bond among players.

“For me, it is the family environment we have created, the brotherhood within the team. Everyone cares about how the other feels; we are united and all pushing in the same direction to make sure we succeed on the pitch,” he said.

The Super Eagles’ victories over Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Mozambique, and Algeria have made them one of the favourites to lift the trophy.

And the Fulham midfielder has been central to Nigeria’s midfield, blending attacking flair with tactical maturity and control.

From Past Lessons to Present Motivation

Iwobi noted that the foundations for the current run were laid at the previous AFCON, where a younger squad reached the final.

“Now everyone is entering their prime and performing well both at club and national level,” he said.

The midfielder also revealed that missing out on World Cup qualification added extra determination to the squad.

“We are using that disappointment as a push factor for ourselves and our country,” Iwobi explained.

To give fans a glimpse of life behind the scenes, Iwobi has shared video diaries from the Super Eagles’ camp on his YouTube channel. His aim is to show the human side of the players and strengthen team unity.

“There is a lot of character, lots of personalities, but when we go to the pitch, we go for war and make sure we give our best,” he said.

The Super Eagles now face hosts Morocco in a thrilling semifinal at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. The winner will advance to Sunday’s final, with Senegal and Egypt contesting the other semifinal.
