The Nigerian international was at the heart of the action, scoring his first goal of the new Major League Soccer season in a dominant team performance.

Alhassan Yusuf Shines in Historic MLS Victory

The 25-year-old midfielder has started the 2026 campaign in fine form. In just his third appearance of the year, Yusuf found the back of the net to help his side secure a record-tying margin of victory.

After a solid previous season where he recorded two goals and an assist in 34 games, the midfielder looks poised for a more clinical year in the final third.

New England showed incredible resilience after falling behind early. While the visitors struck first, the Revolution responded with six unanswered goals.

Brayan Ceballos led the charge with a first-half brace, while Luca Langoni provided three assists in a single half to blow the game open.

Yusuf’s big moment arrived in the second half when he reacted quickest to a deflected cross, heading the ball home to make it 4-1.

It was a productive night for the Nigerian, who played 88 minutes before being substituted to a standing ovation.

His performance stood in stark contrast to fellow countryman Obinna Nwobodo, who struggled for Cincinnati and was substituted at halftime.

The victory marks a perfect home opener for new Head Coach Marko Mitrović. Beyond the scoring frenzy, goalkeeper Matt Turner was instrumental, making seven saves to keep the visitors at bay.

With this momentum, Yusuf and the Revolution will now shift their focus to their upcoming away fixture against St. Louis CITY SC on March 21.
