Andoni Council Boss Condemns Incessant Killings in Agwut-Obolo, Agana, Ilotombi Communities

The Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, Promise Otuo, has strongly condemned the recent spate of violent killings in parts of the LGA, particularly, in Agwut-Obolo, Agana, and Ilotombi communities.

A statement on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 by the Chief Press Secretary to the Andoni LG boss, Jackson Sariguma, disclosed that the incidents were allegedly arising from cult rivalry and related criminal activities.

The Chairman described the acts as “barbaric, senseless, and unacceptable”, stressing that no grievance or affiliation justifies the taking of innocent lives.

He expressed deep sympathy to the families of the victims and reassured residents that the safety and security of lives and property remain a top priority of his administration.

Otuo warned that his administration will not tolerate cultism, criminality, or any form of violence that threatens peace and communal harmony.

He emphasized that individuals or groups found sponsoring, harbouring, or participating in cult-related activities will face the full weight of the law.

He disclosed that the Local Government Council is working closely with security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, and youth stakeholders to restore calm and prevent further escalation. He called on parents and guardians to monitor their wards and discourage them from being drawn into cultism and criminal acts.

Otuo further appealed to youths in the affected communities to embrace peace, dialogue, and lawful conduct, noting that violence only retards development and undermines collective progress.

He urged residents to provide credible information to security agencies to aid investigations and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.

The Chairman reassured the people of Andoni that his administration remains committed to promoting peace, strengthening community security structures, and fostering an environment conducive to sustainable development.
