Bendel Insurance manager Kennedy Boboye has called on his squad to work on their performance as pre-season preparations begin, with the ultimate goal of securing a top-three finish in the upcoming Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign.
The Benin Arsenals narrowly missed out on continental qualification last term, concluding the 2024/25 NPFL season in fifth place with 56 points.
That near-miss has fuelled the team’s determination to deliver a stronger display this year.
As training officially commenced, Boboye made it clear that slacking off will not be tolerated, demanding higher levels of dedication, focus, and consistency from his players.
“I welcome everyone back and thank God we are back without health issues. Work has started. No room for indiscipline. We must do better than we did last season,” Boboye told the NPFL’s official website.
The veteran coach also noted that new signings are expected to arrive in the coming days, emphasising the importance of quickly welcoming and blending the fresh talent into the squad.
“The process begins today. We are expecting some new faces in the next few days. So, we have to receive them as members of the Insurance family and work together as a team,” he said.
The coach also reminded his players that the club’s leadership is committed to boosting player welfare, meaning the team must reciprocate by executing on the pitch and bringing home positive results.
“Management has assured us of improved welfare, so we have no reason not to deliver this time. We owe them and the fans winnings and fine football,” Boboye added.
