Nigerian academy team Beyond Limits have successfully defended their Gothia Puma Trophy (B17) crown, edges out Ivorian rivals ASEC Mimosas 1-0 in a tense final at the SKF Arena in Sweden.
It was a phenomenal and undefeated campaign for the Remo Stars Academy side, who have now captured the prestigious international youth title for the second consecutive year.
No Penalties Needed in Final Rematch
The highly anticipated match was an exact replica of the 2025 final, where Beyond Limits pushed past ASEC Mimosas via a dramatic penalty shootout to claim their historic first title.
This time around, the Ikenne-based side settled the score within regulation time.
The breakthrough came just 17 minutes into the first half. Tournament standout Memud Olamilekan found the back of the net with a clinical finish to give the Nigerian side an early, well-deserved advantage. Beyond Limits protected the solitary lead going into the interval.
Resolute Defence Seals Invincible Campaign
ASEC Mimosas threw everything forward in the second half searching for a route back into the match. However, the Beyond Limits backline stood firm, absorbing the pressure with great tactical discipline.
Olamilekan’s early strike proved to be the decisive blow as the referee’s final whistle confirmed the 1-0 victory.
After opening the tournament with a draw, the Ikenne Boys swept through the knockout phases with a balance of an explosive attack and a rock-solid defence.
They close out the competition with an impressive record of six wins and one draw.
On an individual level, match-winner Memud Olamilekan took home the tournament’s golden boot, ending his stellar summer campaign in Sweden with a total of nine goals.
