Commercial activities were heavily disrupted across Abia State, especially in the commercial hub of the state – Aba, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, as residents complied with a sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The annual directive, which the group stated was to commemorate Biafra Day and honor fallen heroes, left major roads, markets, and motor parks largely deserted in the Enyinba city.

Kristina Reports gathered that most buisinesses remained closed to the public as major markets such as Ariaria International Market, New Market (Ahia Ohuru), Shopping Center, Ngwa Road, etc, were closed as traders stayed away from their shops.

The city remained peaceful throughout the day despite the widespread closure of businesses. Joint security personnel from the Abia State security outfit, “Operation Crush,” patrolled major routes to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

Economic activities slowly resumed later in the day, with several commercial transporters and shop owners reopening for business around 3:00 PM.
