There was a celebration in Bua Zaakpon, Khana LGA on Thursday, August 27, 2026, as the Biiranee Memorial Foundation began disbursing business capital to beneficiaries.
The intervention is part of the Foundation’s commitment to support SMEs and boost economic opportunities in Bua Zaakpon and other Ogoni communities.
The Biiranee Memorial Foundation is an Ogoni-based non-profit focused on community development, education, health, agriculture, and SME empowerment.
The disbursement will provide seed capital to 300 beneficiaries to support entrepreneurship, improve livelihoods, and promote economic empowerment in the community. Grants range from ₦50,000 to ₦500,000, packaged according to each person’s business type and capital needs.
The Chairman of the Foundation, Kelvin Biiranee, whose financial commitment made the programme possible, said the Foundation remains committed to initiatives that promote entrepreneurship development, self-reliance, and a sustainable economy for the people.
While supervising the exercise, the Managing Director, Samuel Penu, urged beneficiaries to utilise the funds responsibly and ensure the intervention translates into sustainable businesses. He stressed that the initiative was designed not merely to provide financial assistance, but to give beneficiaries an opportunity to become economically independent, create value, and contribute positively to their families and the community.
Penu also charged the beneficiaries to demonstrate commitment, discipline, and accountability in managing their businesses, and warned against diverting the funds to purposes unrelated to the businesses for which they were approved.
He concluded by expressing appreciation to the Foundation and its Chairman, Kelvin Biiranee, for his magnanimity and commitment to improving the economic wellbeing of community members through targeted interventions.
