In walking his talk that no kidnap incident would happen again in his domain, Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Rivers State, Abinye Pepple has inaugurated a Community Vigilante Force, codenamed “Operation Protect Okoloama”.

Pepple, while inaugurating the outfit on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, in his office in Bonny, Rivers State, stated that the outfit will complement the existing security architecture of the LGA.

He also announced that he had approved a N100,000 monthly salary for each member of the force, as well as the integration of various existing community vigilante groups.

The Bonny LGA chief executive explained that the security outfit was created to strengthen grassroots protection across vulnerable communities, especially those with waterfront exposure.

Kristina Reports reliably learnt that members of the vigilante outfit had prior to the inauguration undergone profiling by relevant security agencies, which was aimed at ensuring that only credible, disciplined, and community-trusted individuals are enlisted.

Recall that during the presentation of the rescued victim of the last kidnap incident in Bonny LGA at the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base, the Bonny LGA Chairman had declared that no such ugly situation would be allowed to repeat itself.

Ostensibly, the inauguration of this outfit appears to be a reinforcement of that commitment and an assurance that his administration is matching words with action in the protection of lives and properties.
