The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, Abinye Pepple has approved a ₦100 million women empowerment scheme targeted at boosting small-scale businesses across the area.
Pepple disclosed this on while unveiling the initiative which he said will benefit 200 women entrepreneurs, each receiving ₦500,000 to support and expand their businesses.

According to the Chairman, the programme is part of ongoing efforts at strengthening women-led enterprises, promote economic inclusion, and stimulate grassroots development within the local government.
Pepple noted that women play a vital role in sustaining households and driving local economies.

He added that investing in their businesses would create jobs and improve livelihoods across communities in Bonny.
He emphasised that the empowerment scheme aligns with the administration’s broader strategy to support vulnerable groups and encourage sustainable economic growth at the grassroots level.
The Chairman called on interested and eligible women business owners, associations, and groups within Bonny LGA to apply through designated officials for participation in the programme.
Residents and stakeholders have welcomed the development, describing it as a timely intervention capable of easing economic pressures and strengthening small businesses in the area.
