The Bonny Kingdom Development Committee (BKDC) and Evomec Global Services Limited (EGSL) have announced that work would soon commence on Loop 2A, comprising King Asimini Bypass junction to Amaomu junction of the Bonny Road Expansion project.
Chairman of BKDC, Sir Amaopusenibo Amairigha Edward Hart made this disclosure on Friday, April 24, 2026 during a One Day Sensitization Meeting with stakeholders of the project at Ibani-Se Hall, Bonny, Rivers State.

Amaopusenibo Hart explained that the meeting was convened with the aim of bringing stakeholders together to inform them of the next and important phase of the project, avail them an avenue to engage in discussions around critical issues affecting the project, and also chart a way forward on how to ensure the project is delivered successfully.

He commended Evomec for its diligence and commitment to the delivery of the project, adherence to the project design, and continuous engagement with stakeholders, appealing to residents to avail the company the necessary support needed to ensure a successful project.
He reiterated that, consistent with its project design, the road will have a drainage system on both sides, 14 bus stops, four roundabouts, street lights, traffic lights, close circuit television (CCTV) cameras, and speed breakers.
Hart, who is also the State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, said the BKDC welcomes criticisms of the project but insisted that criticisms must be constructive, emphasising that such meaningful feedbacks provide a basis for ongoing assessment of the project and help to ensure best quality within agreed timeline is achieved.

Making a presentation at the event, Evomec’s Project Lead for the Bonny Road Expansion project, Eboho Asanwana informed that this all-important phase of the project is set to kick-off soon, urging residents and commuters to prepare for the inconveniences that will be associated with the commencement of work in that area.
He informed that the best equipment was being mobilised by Evomec’s Project Manager for the Bonny Road Expansion project, Oboho Asanwana, explaining that the aim was to ensure that commuters, residents and Bonny people, in general, have the best value out of the project, emphasising that the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, High Chief Peter Onajite Esievo approaches the job from a place of patriotism.
Also speaking, the Manager, Community Relations and Sustainable Development, Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG), Yemi Adeyemi, represented by the Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Coordinator for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects for the company’s Train 7 project, Edith Hart, assured the people of Bonny Kingdom that his company’s Train 7 team was providing ongoing overwatch and evaluation of the project.

He asserted that Evomec Global Services Limited was tasked with the job given its track record of delivery of qualitative projects within agreed timelines, explaining that NLNG was investing heavily in the project given the critical value the road holds for Bonny Kingdom, assuring that the road will be completed in due time and in the highest quality.
The Bonny Chiefs Council (BCC) through its Chairman, Se-Alabo Dagogo Claude-Wilcox commended the NLNG and Evomec for a job well done, appealing to residents to give the company the needed support to ensure the project is completed on time and in good quality, noting that ill-advised criticisms will undermine rather than promote the good value the project represents.


In his remarks the Chairman of Bonny LGA, Abinye Pepple, who was represented by his Senior Special Adviser on Marine and Blue Economy, Ibifubara Willie-Pepple, assured that his administration will continue to ensure a conducive atmosphere for developmental initiatives to thrive including the Bonny Road Expansion project.
In his welcome address, the Secretary of BKDC, Dr. Victor Jumbo, who is also the Chairman of the event’s Organizing Committee, said that this sensitization program is one of BKDC’s mechanism to enlighten residents of Bonny Kingdom of activities around the road expansion project, as well as receive feedback for better service delivery.

During the Question-and-Answer Session, some of attendees at the meeting raised concerns over certain aspects of the project, disruption of social amenities as a consequence of the project, and plans to reduce crime rate in the LGA, among other issues.
In attendance at the event were members of the Bonny Chiefs Council, the Bonny Legislative Assembly, heads of security agencies in the LGA, representatives of Bonny Kingdom Institutions, companies and various interest groups.



Kristina Reports reliably learnt that the BKDC has engaged qualified civil engineers to supervise the project and ensure that it is executed to the highest standards and in line with global best practice.
