A traditional ruler in Bonny Kingdom, Se-Alabo Reverend Clinton Ibiwari Gibson Dan-Jumbo, Jene IV has commiserated with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over the unfortunate loss of its operative, Chief Narcotic Agent Sadiq Bako Mujahid.

The late CNA Mujahid paid the supreme price in the course of the agency’s operation in the Sandfield area of Bonny, Rivers State, wherein six top dealers of illicit drugs and controlled substances were arrested and currently facing prosecution.

Se-Alabo Dan-Jumbo, who visited the NDLEA office in Bonny, described the death of CAN Mujahid as “a great loss”, noting that his death is a worrisome development.

“My reaction when I had this news was one of mixed feelings. Mixed feelings in the sense that there was a great loss, a loss of the life of an operative.”

“Someone who is fighting crime for this Kingdom lost his life; that was worrisome to me. But the part of joy for me was the fact that the action itself was a huge success.”

“It should be noted that out of the eight kingpins, six of them were apprehended. You will understand that globally, one of the criminogenic needs that drives offenses or crimes is drugs, misuse of drugs. It is a critical factor in addressing crimes.”

“So, it is a huge success for me to hear that those persons responsible for fuelling this particular crime were arrested, and to a large extent, that, in itself, will reduce the crime in this Kingdom.”

“Having apprehended those people, their operations would have been frustrated, and that is good news for me, and that is joyful.”

Earlier, the NDLEA Area Commander in Bonny LGA, John David had expressed his gratitude to the traditional ruler for the visit and empathy demonstrated by him towards the agency and its demised operative.

“Well, first of all, I have to appreciate Chief Dan-Jumbo for coming. His coming has a lot of significance on the loss of our officer and the pains we share as a body.”

“For me to receive such a person that is highly respected in the community, a chief, I’m happy. It’s a lot of solace for me regarding the death of my officer.”

“And whatever we are doing here, we do as security operatives who work for the government and the government is also asking us to do it for the people.”

“So, this arrest is for the people of Bonny to make sure that we get Bonny rid of all drug activities. So that their children will grow without drugs, and even their community will be a community that is without crime.”

“Since we all know that there is no crime in the whole of this world that has no drug in it, we are reducing to a large extent the level of crime in Bonny which is why we took that bold step to enter that day and do that operation.”

“So, in that success, where you have almost all the kingpins of drug dealers in Bonny, that have been arrested and have been taken to Monaco and they are being prosecuted for now”

“And about Chief, we are happy and it is a great honour for me to have him here. The visit also gave me the full confidence to do more.”

“Knowing that people like you are with me, and people like you are appreciating my work on the island. So, I really, really appreciate his coming.”

Despite the loss of its personnel in the aforesaid operation, the NDLEA in Bonny has sustained its bullish aggression against drug peddling, denying the dealers and consumers freedom of action in circulation of illicit drugs and controlled substances.
