Super Falcons star Joy Omewa has finally opened her goal account for BK Häcken, finding the back of the net to inspire her side to a commanding away victory over IFK Norrköping during their Damallsvenskan fixture on Saturday evening.
The 23-year-old forward scored the opening goal as the visitors crushed their hosts 6–0 in the round 20 Allsvenskan Women clash at the Norrköpings Idrottspark.
It took Omewa six matches to get on the scoresheet, with the milestone arriving in her very first start for the club. The Nigerian international had previously been limited to substitute appearances, clocking just 88 minutes of action across five games.
BK Häcken produced a dominant attacking display from the start. Omewa broke the deadlock in the 19th minute after being set up by Alva Selerud. Just six minutes later, Tabby Tindell doubled Häcken’s advantage off an Anna Anvegård assist.
Häcken maintained control after the break, with Anvegård turning scorer in the 63rd minute following a setup from Jóhanna Fossdalsá. Norrköping’s night worsened eight minutes later when Malva Larsson turned the ball into her own net to make it 4–0.
Selerud added a fifth in the 76th minute before Stine Sandbech capped off the rout in the sixth minute of stoppage time, assisted by Laney Matriano.
The result extends Häcken’s unbeaten league run to 13 matches (12 wins, 1 draw) and maintains their six-point cushion at the top of the table.
Up next in the league is a clash against IK Uppsala Fotboll next Sunday, but first, they turn their focus to Juventus in the UEFA Women’s Champions League as they look to bounce back from a narrow defeat to Inter Milan in their opener.
Omewa joined the Swedish champions in July 2026 on a contract running through 2029, following a brief spell with England’s Nottingham Forest and a successful four-and-a-half-year stint with Denmark’s Fortuna Hjørring.
She was also part of Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where the Super Falcons missed out on a 10th title following a 2–1 quarter-final loss to South Africa.
Meanwhile, in the Saudi Women’s Premier League, fellow Super Falcon Christy Ucheibe scored her first goal and provided an assist for Al-Hilal in a 6–0 home victory over Al-Taraji at the Inaya Medical Colleges Stadium.
Making her third appearance since arriving from Benfica, Ucheibe opened the scoring in the 5th minute with an unmarked header. Alice Kusi doubled the lead on the stroke of halftime in the 45th minute.
Al-Hilal maintained their blistering momentum after the restart, with Lin Mohammed extending the lead in the 49th minute. Super Falcons teammate Asisat Oshoala then took center stage, scoring a second-half brace (65′, 77′) to register her second consecutive double for the club.
The former Barcelona star has now tallied 10 goal contributions (6 goals, 4 assists) across all competitions. Abeer Nasser rounded out the scoring in the 95th minute to lock in the 6–0 triumph.
After dropping their season opener, Al-Hilal have rebounded in spectacular fashion with back-to-back victories—scoring 15 goals without conceding a single one.
They next travel to face Al-Ula on Thursday, October 1, at the Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium.
