Thirty students of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) have reportedly secured employment opportunities with the Dangote Group following an educational excursion to the Dangote Refinery and Fertilizer Plant in Lagos.

The development was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor of FUTO, Professor Nnenna Oti, who led the students on the industrial tour.

According to Professor Oti, the offer came after the President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, interacted with the students and expressed satisfaction with their conduct, academic potential and preparedness for the workplace.

She revealed that the students were informed that they would be considered for automatic employment upon graduation from the university.

Professor Oti described the gesture as a significant opportunity for the beneficiaries and a reflection of the value of industry-academic collaboration in preparing young Nigerians for productive careers.

The Vice-Chancellor also noted that the development underscored the importance of exposing students to real-world industrial environments as part of their educational experience.

Prof. Nnenna Oti wrote,
“Alh Aliko Dangote, President Dangote Group of Companies just called and offered the 30 FUTO students i took on tour of his refinery and fertilizer plant (14-16th June 2026) in Lagos automatic employment on graduation..

He said this is to honor my: integrity and national service to Nigeria and humanity.

“What a god! What an honor!! What a glorious way to bow out! What else can I ask for?. Lord to you alone be all the glory.

“I am so emotional right now. Lord I am”.

She further expressed appreciation to the Dangote Group for creating opportunities for young talents and supporting efforts aimed at bridging the gap between the classroom and the labour market.

The students, drawn from different academic disciplines, participated in the tour to gain firsthand knowledge of operations at what is regarded as one of Africa’s largest industrial complexes.

The reported employment offer has since generated excitement within the university community, with many describing it as a major boost for the institution and its students.

However, neither the Dangote Group nor the management of the refinery had issued an official statement on the development as of the time of filing this report.
