Nigeria’s D’Tigress have received the financial rewards promised by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their historic 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket triumph.
The payment completes the Presidential Rewards package, following the team’s houses and national honours.
And the numbers tell the story: D’Tigress have now won a record five consecutive AfroBasket titles, seven overall, while extending their unbeaten run in the competition to an incredible 29 games.
They sealed the 2025 title with a 78–64 victory over Mali in Abidjan.
Captain Amy Okonkwo described the gesture as unprecedented, saying it shows a positive shift in the administration and welfare of Nigerian athletes.
After delivering historic results on the court, D’Tigress have finally received what was promised off it.
