Chioma Moses Inspires Edo Queens to Another NWFL Super Six Victory
Having bounced back from an opening-day setback with a dominant win over FC Robo Queens, Edo Queens entered the Matchday 3 clash eager to continue their resurgence.
Abia Angels, meanwhile, came into the encounter unbeaten and looking to extend their impressive run in their debut NWFL Super Six campaign.
The game started cautiously but quickly sprang into life. Edo Queens took the lead in just the third minute after a costly mistake from Abia Angels goalkeeper Fatimah Oloko.
A cross from the right appeared comfortably under the goalkeeper’s control, but the ball slipped from her grasp and fell kindly to Chioma Moses, who nodded home to make it 1-0.
The goal marked Chioma’s third strike in three matches following her brace against FC Robo Queens on Matchday 2.
Abia Angels responded positively and showed why they have been one of the surprise teams of the tournament.
An inswinging delivery from the right caused confusion in the Edo Queens defence, allowing Mariam Abdulrasheed to rise highest and head the ball over goalkeeper Doris Ohia to level the score at 1-1.
The equaliser cancelled out Moses’ early opener and set up an entertaining contest.
However, Edo Queens regained the lead just before halftime through their star forward.
A long goalkeeper clearance launched a quick counterattack, with Chioma Moses racing past her marker before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-1 heading into the break.

Edo Queens resumed the second half with the same intensity and extended their advantage in the 52nd minute.

Super substitute Precious Oscar, who also scored from the bench against FC Robo Queens, made another immediate impact.
After another brilliant run from Chioma Moses, the forward delivered a simple pass into Oscar’s path, and she finished from close range to make it 3-1.
Goalkeeper Fatimah Oloko appeared to hesitate, expecting an offside flag that never came, allowing Edo Queens to take firm control of the match.
Just two minutes later, Atume Doosuur added a fourth goal.
The winger drove past her defender before Oloko rushed off her line. The goalkeeper’s attempted intervention struck Doosuur and deflected into the net, increasing Edo Queens’ lead to 4-1.
The goalkeeping woes continued in the 72nd minute when Oloko failed to properly deal with a corner kick from Chioma Moses. The ball slipped through her hands and into the net, handing Edo Queens a fifth goal.
The goalkeeper, who had impressed in Abia Angels’ previous outing against Rivers Angels, endured a difficult afternoon this time around.
Chioma Moses then completed a sensational hat-trick in the 81st minute, finishing off another swift counterattack to make it 6-1 and cap a brilliant individual performance.
Abia Angels managed a late consolation goal when Blessing Saleh finished with a fine header in the 87th minute.
Despite the late response, Edo Queens remained firmly in control and comfortably saw out a dominant 6-2 victory.
The result ended Abia Angels’ unbeaten start to the NWFL Super Six, while Edo Queens continued their strong push for the title with back-to-back wins.
