The Police Service Commission (PSC) has ratified the dismissal of killer policeman, Usman Nuhu, who was until his dismissal, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), and four other officers over their involvement in the killing of a 28-year-old man, Oghenemine Ogidi, in Effurun, Delta State.

The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, disclosed this on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 after an emergency conference with strategic managers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Abuja.

He stated that the decision followed the conclusion of internal disciplinary procedures which found the officers culpable in the Sunday, April 26, 2026 incident.

Disu, who addressed the recent incident in Delta State involving the extra-judicial killing of a suspect, described the act as “unlawful and inconsistent with the values of the Nigeria Police Force”.

“The officers involved have been dismissed from service, while the case has been forwarded for criminal prosecution and as the Force’s zero-tolerance stance on misconduct, as no officer is above the law”, he said.

The conference was convened to address critical national security concerns, reinforce accountability within the Force, and outline strategic operational directives for commands and formations nationwide.

“The imperative of transparency, discipline, and leadership responsibility at all levels of command, and evolving security landscape demands a more responsive, accountable, and intelligence-driven policing approach”, Disu said.
