The recent assault on an indigene of Odiokwu Town in Ahoada-West Local Government Area, Ogadinma Winnie Miller has drawn the ire of the Ekpeye Youth Congress (EYC) which has condemned the act and is demanding an immediate and comprehensive investigation of the incident.
Ogadinma had accused the Ahoada-West LG Chairman, Eugene Epelle of invading her residence alongside his brothers and security aides and assaulted her and in the process injured her mouth.
The EYC, in a statement on Monday, March 2, 2026 signed by its President General, Justice Ewoh, PhD, vehemently condemned the act, asserting that such act has no place inn a democratic setting, and demanding that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) probe the incident.

“EKPEYE YOUTHS CONGRESS (EYC) WORLDWIDE CONDEMNS THE ALLEGED BARBARIC ASSAULT ON MISS WINNER MILLER FROM ODIOKWU TOWN, AHOADA WEST, CALLS FOR FULL INVESTIGATION.
“The attention of the EYC Worldwide, Ekpeye apex Youth body has been drawn to the disdainful and barbaric act that took place at Odiokwu Town yesterday 1st of March, 2026 where a young Ekpeye daughter, Miss Miller Winnie was brutalized and beaten up allegedly by the Executive Chairman of Ahoada-West, Hon. Eugene Epelle Cheta, and his brother because of the Facebook posts she made about the deplorable state of Odiokwu Secondary School.”
“Miss Miller Winnie while narrating her ordeal to the President General of EYC Worldwide, Hon. Dr Ewoh Justice said that her ordeal started “when I made a Facebook post about the dilapidated and deplorable condition of the Odiokwu Secondary School; where I called out the Executive Chairman of Ahoada-West LGA and other relevant government agencies about the plight of students in the death-trapped decayed school.”
“I noticed the post I made angered the Executive Chairman Hon Eugene Epelle Cheta and his boys. So, yesterday 1st of March, 2026 I was with my mother in our house at Odiokwu when the Chairman drove to our house with his younger brother, Monday Cheta Epelle.”
“The Chairman started scolding me and warning me seriously about the posts I made about the school. It got to the point when his brother started slapping me and hit me in the mouth; which resulted in the bleeding in my mouth. People are witnesses to what happened and I was able to take videos and pictures of what happened yesterday.”
“Currently, my life and that of my mother is in danger because of the series of threats I have been receiving since yesterday. I’m calling on EYC Worldwide and other relevant government agencies to come to my rescue.”.
“The President General of EYC Worldwide condemns the barbaric act after verifying her statement from eye witnesses in the community.
“Miss Winnie Miller should be commended for desiring the betterment of the school in her community not to be assaulted and beaten up for speaking up.”
“Such dehumanization and humiliation meted on Miss Winnie Miller has no place in a democratic government where government responsibilities are to protect her people not to beat them up for speaking up about governance.”
“Therefore, I’m calling on the Nigerian Police Force Rivers State Command to investigate fully what happened to the venerable young girl and ensure that Justice is given to Miss Winnie Miller.”
“EYC Worldwide will not watch silently when the rights of innocent youth is violated and abused by the very people that meant to Protect them.”
