Nigerian forward Flourish Sabastine has officially sealed a move to Portuguese champions Benfica Feminino.
The 21-year-old Super Falcons star joined the Lisbon-based club following the expiration of her contract with Turkish side Fenerbahçe, opening an exciting new chapter in her European career.
Benfica confirmed Sabastine’s arrival on a free transfer through the club’s official platforms, welcoming one of Nigeria’s most promising young talents to their squad.
The versatile forward has signed a three-year contract that runs until 2029, with Benfica retaining the option to extend her stay for an additional season.
The move represents another major step forward for the Nigerian international, whose impressive rise has taken her from the Nigeria Women’s Football League to competing at some of Europe’s top clubs.
Joining Benfica also gives Sabastine the chance to showcase her abilities with one of the most successful teams in Portuguese women’s football as the club looks to strengthen its squad for the new campaign.
Sabastine is the second Nigerian player to join Benfica this summer, following the arrival of fellow Super Falcons star Janet Akekoromowei.
Born in Aba, Abia State, Sabastine first gained national recognition through Nigeria’s youth teams, where her speed, direct style of play and attacking instinct made her one of the standout performers for the Falconets at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Her consistent displays earned her a promotion to the Super Falcons, where she has continued to establish herself as one of Nigeria’s brightest young attacking players.
Before beginning her European adventure, Sabastine impressed with Bayelsa Queens in the Nigeria Women’s Football League, attracting interest from clubs abroad with a series of outstanding performances.
She later moved to French club Stade de Reims before joining Turkish giants Fenerbahçe.
Although her time in Turkey lasted only one season, it provided valuable experience that has now paved the way for a move to Benfica.
With a long-term contract secured in Portugal, Sabastine now has the opportunity to continue her development at one of Europe’s leading women’s clubs while aiming to make an even bigger impact for both Benfica and the Super Falcons.
