The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has pleaded with residents of Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State to utilize road infrastructure in such a way as to have every commuter alive and healthy.
Unit Commander of FRSC Bonny Unit, Daisy Isiofia made this plea on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 during a sensitization and awareness creation forum at the Queen Kambasa Hall in Bonny, Rivers State.

She stated that as major construction work commences on the road expansion project from the Bonny Oil and Gas Terminal gate to Coal Beach and the spur off Amaomu Junction to the King Perekule Palace, it is imperative the safety consideration is prioritised by both pedestrians and motorists.
“Our greatest wish is when there are road users who have fuller lives, who won’t experience accidents, who drive safely and not record any kind of accident because this is part of our mission. Our vision is where everybody will be alive, driving.”
So, please, let’s drive safely. Our vehicle is for us to enjoy, it’s a need, but not for it to mar our lives. Let’s be cautious that this life, when you leave it, you are gone and you can never come back.”
On its part, the project implementer, Evomec Global Services Limited (EGSL) through it General Manager, Toye Fadare assured the people of Bonny LGA of quality, timely delivery and effective utilization of the road upon completion.

He outlined challenges associated with the road construction project to include power outages, traffic diversions, inconvenient parking, and lots of other inconveniences, but added that the end justifies means.
“Everybody will be happy at end of this project but for now there will be inconveniences that we must have to grapple with. Let’s be aware of these, those are the things we will face.”
He stated that Evomec is “not that kind of contractor that is insensitive, that we feel for you, we’re concerned about the impact of this construction on residents, pedestrians and other people”, adding that the job will be done in sections to ease the pressure.

The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) speaking through its Train 7 Environment and Social Performance Lead, Isuala Cally-Ntete informed that the road is being expanded with integrated features such as drainages, pedestrian walkways, speed breakers and zebra crossings, among others.
Mrs. Cally-Ntete added that the road is one of the projects captured under NLNG’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) for its Train 7 project.

Also speaking, NLNG’s Construction HSE Lead, Edith Hart highlighted the social value of the road, noting that upon completion, it would ease traffic, reduce travel time and accentuate the aesthetic value of the community.
In his remarks, Vice Chairman of Bonny Kingdom Ogbobiri Asawo, Kalada Brown commended FRSC, NLNG and Evomec for organizing the forum, noting that it has created a veritable platform for concerned stakeholders to express their views, assuring his group will provide the needed support to ensure the project is completed without any issues.

The forum witnessed a question-and-answer session which was moderated by the Public Relations Officer of the FRSC Bonny Unit Command, Chris Onwubiko, wherein various stakeholders had the opportunity to express their various concerns about the road project.
