Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has extended his congratulations to mothers across the state as they celebrate this year’s Mothering Sunday.
Mothering Sunday in Nigeria is observed as both a religious and social occasion. It is marked on the fourth Sunday of Lent in many churches, especially within the Anglican Communion, and serves as a time to honour mothers and maternal figures.

The celebration is often characterised by church services, family gatherings, presentation of gifts, and other activities aimed at appreciating the roles of mothers in the family and society.
In a goodwill message issued to commemorate the day signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the Governor commended women for their strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to raising children who will become the nation’s future leaders.
On behalf of the government and people of Rivers State, the governor conveyed his warm felicitations to mothers, recognising the crucial role they play in nurturing families and strengthening communities.
He further emphasised that the love, care, and sacrifices made by mothers form the bedrock of society, noting that their dedication to raising and guiding families remains essential to the progress and development of both the state and the country.
