Nigerian music star Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, brought the 2026 Afro Nation Portugal festival to a memorable close with a headline performance that had thousands of fans singing along to his biggest hits on the festival’s final night.
Wizkid headlined the closing day of the three-day festival on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Praia da Rocha Beach in Portimão, Portugal, where he performed before a large international audience celebrating African music and culture.

The singer thrilled fans with performances of some of his popular songs, including “Kese” and “Essence,” as concertgoers sang along throughout the set, rounding off the annual festival on a high note.
The final day of the festival also featured performances by Kehlani, Niska, R2BEES, Theodora, and other artistes, while the Piano People stage showcased acts including Kelvin Momo, Mawhoo, Scotts Maphuma, Daliwonga, Madumane (DJ Maphorisa) and DJ Lag.
The 2026 edition of Afro Nation Portugal ran from Friday, July 3, to Sunday, July 5, with Burna Boy headlining the opening night and Asake leading the second day before Wizkid closed the event.
Earlier this year, while unveiling the lineup, the festival organisers wrote:
“PHASE 3 IS HERE.”
“Legacy energy meets Afro Nation debuts.”
“This is the sound of a summer taking shape.”
Afro Nation is regarded as one of the world’s largest festivals celebrating African music and culture, bringing together leading Afrobeats, Amapiano, R&B and dancehall artistes from Africa and the diaspora.
As of Monday, July 6, 2026, the organisers had not released an official attendance figure for this year’s edition, although reports described the audience as numbering in the thousands.
There were also no verified post-performance comments from Wizkid following his headline appearance.
