Humanitarian Activities Mark Christmas Day in Sokoto

Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, was marked by notable humanitarian activities in Sokoto State as groups and agencies reached out to vulnerable members of society in the spirit of the season.
The Igbo community resident in Sokoto State paid a goodwill visit to the Sokoto Correctional Centre, where they shared Christmas meals with inmates as part of activities to promote love, unity and compassion.

The outreach saw more than 1,300 inmates provided with food and basic support, with organisers describing the gesture as a reminder that the festive season is a time to show kindness, regardless of circumstances.
The community leaders noted that the visit was aimed at giving the inmates a sense of belonging and hope, especially during a period often associated with family and togetherness.
In a related development, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) also intensified its humanitarian and safety presence in Sokoto during the festive period.
The agency launched a special Christmas safety operation focused on road safety awareness, emergency preparedness and rapid response to accidents and emergencies across the state.
Officials explained that the initiative was designed to protect lives and property during the increased movement associated with the Christmas celebrations.
The humanitarian efforts carried out on Christmas Day highlighted a strong message of solidarity, care and responsibility among communities and institutions in Sokoto State, reinforcing the true essence of the season.
