Imo NUJ Chairman, Nwanguma, Celebrated as Colleagues Praise His Leadership

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo State Council, Ifeanyi Nwanguma, has been celebrated by colleagues on his birthday, Tuesday, October 27, 2026, with tributes highlighting his leadership, humility, commitment to members’ welfare and contributions to the growth of the union.

In separate birthday messages, journalists Chuks Nwokeji and Thankgod Emeh praised Nwanguma’s leadership qualities, while the council’s Secretary, Treasure Ihechi-Nwamah, described him as a leader whose character and commitment to collective progress deserve emulation.

Nwokeji, in a tribute titled “Happy Birthday to Capacity Chairman of Imo NUJ: Comrade Ifeanyi Nwanguma”, described the chairman as a leader who had distinguished himself through confidence, assertiveness, emotional strength, independence and accountability.

He said Nwanguma’s leadership stood out in a profession often characterised by individual interests and competing egos, noting that his approach combined strength of character with humility.

“What sets him apart is not just the position he occupies, but the character he brings to the office,” Nwokeji wrote.

He credited Nwanguma with bringing stability to the council, managing sensitive issues affecting journalists and engaging government institutions while defending press freedom.

Nwokeji also praised the chairman’s commitment to members’ welfare, professional development and the repositioning of the council as a stakeholder in Imo State’s development.

Describing the popular nickname “Capacity Chairman” as more than social media praise, he said it reflected Nwanguma’s ability to provide direction, protect members and promote unity within the union.

He further highlighted the chairman’s support for younger journalists, saying his leadership had created opportunities for mentorship and professional growth.

In his birthday message, Emeh, the council’s treasurer, described Nwanguma as a leader of vision, courage and distinction whose humility, wisdom and commitment to collective progress continued to inspire respect.

“Chair, your leadership exemplifies authority without arrogance, courage without compromise and service without selfish ambition,” Emeh wrote.

He added that Nwanguma had demonstrated that true leadership involved inspiring confidence, fostering unity and advancing the common good.

Emeh prayed for renewed strength, greater wisdom and further accomplishments for the chairman, expressing the hope that his influence and achievements would extend beyond his tenure in office.

Similarly, Ihechi-Nwamah, the council’s secretary, described Nwanguma as a leader whose confidence, independence, protectiveness and accountability were worthy of recognition.

In her birthday tribute, she said his humility, wisdom and commitment to the growth of the Imo NUJ Council deserved emulation.

“Your ability to inspire, unite and lead by example is a quality worth celebrating,” she wrote.

She also prayed for God’s blessings and continued increase in his endeavours.

The birthday messages collectively highlighted the importance of leadership that prioritises unity, professional development, members’ welfare and accountability within the journalism profession.

As Nwanguma marks another year, his colleagues have used the occasion to recognise his service to the union and express hopes for further progress under his leadership.

Nwokeji concluded his tribute by describing the chairman as a rare leader and expressing optimism about a greater future for journalists in Imo State under his leadership.

Kristina Reports congratulates Ifeanyi Nwanguma on his birthday and wishes him good health, wisdom and continued success in his service to the journalism profession.
