As part of its sustained efforts to ensure successful voters accreditation, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has moved the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise to the 319 wards across Rivers State.
According to a statement on Friday, January 30, 2025 by the Head of Department, Voters Education and Publicity, INEC Rivers State, Geraldine Ekelemu, this move is to encourage greater participation by members of the public.

She stated that the rotation of the exercise across the 319 wards of the State will run for a 50 days duration commencing on Monday, February 2, 2026, explaining that it is imperative as it brings the exercise closer to eligible citizens and increase Voters’ access.
“This decision is part of sustained efforts to bring the registration exercise closer to eligible Nigerians, expand voter access and encourage greater participation in the electoral process especially at the grassroots”
She added that eligible citizens who have attained the age of 18, as well as those seeking transfer of their registration, replacement of their lost or damaged Permanent Voters cards (PVCs), or correct their voter records, are encouraged to take advantage of the exercise when it reaches their respective Wards.
Ekelemu enjoins all relevant stakeholders and the entire public to embrace the development, calling on ward leaders to encourage their constituents to come out and participate in the process.
“The Commission also calls on Community leaders, Civil Society Organizations, Political Parties, the Media and other Stakeholders to support the sensitization of citizens and ensure a peaceful and orderly registration process in their various Wards.”
