The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) has made the Preliminary Register of Voters for the 2027 General Election available online following concerns raised by Nigerians and other stakeholders over public access to the register.
The Commission disclosed this in a press statement issued on Monday, October 26, 2026, by the Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu-Haruna.

INEC said the online publication was introduced to complement the physical display of the register, which took place nationwide at Registration Areas from October 9 to 15, 2026. The Commission explained that the exercise was conducted in accordance with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026, to enable registered voters to verify their personal details and submit claims or objections where necessary.
According to INEC, the decision to make the register accessible online followed concerns expressed by Nigerians and stakeholders about the need for wider access to the document. The preliminary register can now be accessed through the Commission’s online platform at https://display.inecnigeria.org.
INEC noted that the online initiative would promote transparency, improve accessibility and strengthen public confidence in the electoral process. The Commission added that it was still processing claims and objections arising from the physical display exercise ahead of the certification and publication of the Final Register of Voters.
The electoral body said the final register is scheduled for publication on December 15, 2026, in preparation for the 2027 General Election, and reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and the faithful implementation of the Electoral Act, 2026, while appreciating Nigerians and stakeholders for their continued engagement in the electoral process.
INEC urged eligible voters to take advantage of the online platform to check their registration details and help ensure the accuracy of the voters’ register ahead of the next general election.
