Jesse Sekidika has added a new highlight to his career after helping Jesse Sekidika and Sabah FK clinch the 2025/26 Azerbaijan Premyer Liga title in a dramatic finish.
The Port Harcourt-born winger played 18 league matches this season, contributing to a historic first-ever league triumph for the club.
Jesse Sekidika Wins First League Title with Sabah
The title success was sealed after results elsewhere went in Sabah FK’s favour, with rivals Qarabağ FK slipping up in a key fixture.
Despite suffering back-to-back defeats against FC Kapaz and Neftçi PFK, Sabah FK remained consistent enough over the season to stay ahead at the summit.
Sekidika, who previously featured for Galatasaray, scored once this campaign—lower than his previous output—but still played an important squad role in a title-winning side that accumulated 75 points from 32 matches.
Sekidika’s Season, Numbers & What Comes Next
This campaign marks a quieter statistical season for the Nigerian winger compared to his earlier spells at the club, where he scored 7 and 13 goals in previous seasons.
Still, the experience ends with silverware, strengthening his career profile in Azerbaijan.
Sabah FK finished nine points clear at the top, even with one game left to play against Turan Tovuz.
Sekidika and his teammates’ journey didn’t stop there, as they also overcame Qarabağ in the semi-final to secure a spot in the Azerbaijan Cup final.
Then last Wednesday in the final, Sabah narrowly beat Zira 2–1 at the Palms Sports Arena to lift the trophy, completing a domestic double for Sekidika.
Attention now turns to whether Sekidika will continue with the club or seek a fresh challenge after a title-winning chapter.
