Joy Omewa Strengthens Nottingham Forest Attack
Joy Omewa arrives at Nottingham Forest after an outstanding spell in Denmark, where she developed into one of the most reliable forwards in the Kvindeligaen.
The forward began her career in Nigeria with Confluence Queens before moving to Europe in 2021, signing for B.93. After scoring three goals in nine appearances, she earned a switch to Fortuna Hjørring later that year.
Award-Winning Danish Spell at Fortuna Hjørring
During her time at Fortuna Hjørring, Joy Omewa enjoyed a remarkable five-year period, scoring more than 50 goals across all competitions.
She played a key role in the club’s success, helping them lift the Danish Women’s Cup twice and secure the Kvindeligaen title in the 2024/25 season.

Her impact did not go unnoticed. Omewa was named Kvindeligaen Player of the Season after Fortuna Hjørring completed a historic league and cup double.
On the international stage, Joy Omewa has represented Nigeria at U17 and U20 levels and earned her first senior cap last year.
She also featured for the Super Falcons in their two-legged win over Benin, which sealed qualification for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Nottingham Forest Women head coach Carly Davies praised the signing, highlighting Omewa’s natural finishing ability and experience at both club and international level.
The forward herself expressed excitement about joining an ambitious club and contributing to an already talented Forest squad.
