Staff of Chairborne Global Services Limited were on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 chased away from the project site of the Bonny Vehicular Terminal in Bagg Jumbo Community by the land owners, Jumbo Chieftaincy House of Bonny Kingdom.
Bagg Jumbo is one of several communities that comprise Jumbo House in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The immediate past Convener of the Jumbo House Youth Governors Forum, Nengi Jumbo told Kristina Reports that members of the House, comprising Asawo (youths), Ogbobiri Asawo (adult male), and other components took the action because of alleged lack of consultation and stakeholding.
He asserted that neither the Elders Council nor any other arm of the House was engaged by the company before trespassing into the family land.
He insisted that the position of the House is strengthened by a judgement of the Rivers State High Court in Suit No.: PHC/949/1998, which stated that Jumbo House has exclusive ownership rights over the land, as such has the sole authority to lease or donate land to any external entity.
Also speaking with Kristina Reports, Chairman of Jumbo House Ogbobiri Asawo, Eric Jumbo condemned the trespass on land belonging to the House, saying that the land is exclusively owned by Jumbo House.
He averred that if any external entity needs the land, it should consult with the land owners and not try to trespass on the land.
“Our agitation is based on the neglect of our House and failure to reach the all-encompassing leadership of the House, as well as failure to present a valid Environmental Impact Assessment Report.”
“This is necessary, so that we can know the impact the project will have on the environmental over the years.”
“Also, it is the failure of the company to involve Jumbo House in all activities relating to the project including staff positions in the company.
“We all went there to strengthen and show solidarity to our primary Community there, Bagg Jumbo, and to insist that in all areas, the engagement of our people as the work progresses must be non-negotiable.”
He assured that the House will “ensure smooth running of the work till its conclusion with no unjust interference, stoppages or security bridge when the right thing is done by way of consultation.
The Jumbo House members who massed up at the project site carrying placards with inscriptions such as “Stop Illegal Dredging in Bagg Jumbo”, “Host Community Rights Are Not Optional”, “Our Land, Our Water, Our Rights”, and “No Negotiation, No Work; No ESIA, No Operation”, among others.
Efforts by Kristina Reports to have Chairborne Global Services Limited respond to the claims of the protesters was yet unsuccessful as at the time of this report as its Chairman/Managing Director, Adokiye Ikpoki was yet to respond to messages sent to his mobile line.
