Excellence has paved way for Divine Nnaa, the 17-year-old Ogoni-born student who emerged as the top scorer in the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, with 8 As and 1 B, as her hard work has earned her a full university sponsorship.
On Tuesday, August 11, 2026, the Khana, Gokana, Tai, Eleme Consultative Forum, KAGOTE, announced it will fund Nnaa’s university education.
The pledge was made by KAGOTE President, Lesi Maol, during a meeting with representatives of Ogoni Outstanding Scholars Connect, OOSC, and Ogoni Postgraduate Forum, OPGF, at the corporate headquarters of Giolee Global Resources Limited in Eneka, Port Harcourt.
As part of the arrangement, Maol urged the brilliant student to enroll in a one-year remedial programme at the University of Port Harcourt to strengthen her academic foundation before starting her degree.
Nnaa, an alumna of Javin Champion School, Port Harcourt, plans to study Medicine and Surgery. She said the preparatory programme will help her meet the demands of university and her chosen career.
The delegation to KAGOTE included OOSC President, Tigbara Emmanuel, OOSC PRO, HugoVictor Barine, OPGF Electronic Secretary, Money DumBari, the Manager of Javin Champion School, and other members of OOSC and OPGF.
The groups described KAGOTE’s intervention as a timely investment in Ogoni’s human capital.
Recall that on August 7, 2026, OOSC President, Tigbara Emmanuel, made a public appeal for support for Miss Nnaa after her WAEC results were released. Four days later, the KAGOTE President invited her and her team to formalize the sponsorship.
For Nnaa, the scholarship clears the path to her dream of becoming a medical doctor. For KAGOTE, it reinforces the organization’s commitment to supporting education and developing young talent across Ogoniland.
