Chairman of Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chief Thomas Bariere, PhD, has vowed that perpetrators of criminal activities in the local government area will be identified and brought to justice.
Bariere made the declaration during a radio interview monitored in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while speaking on the security challenges confronting the local government.

The Council Chairman said his administration would not compromise its position against criminal gangs or interfere in traditional institutions and chieftaincy matters recognised by law.
He said the administration’s stance may have made it a target, but insisted that the local government would remain committed to working with legitimate institutions and upholding the rule of law.
“Whoever is perpetrating evil in the local government will be fetched out.”
“Moreso, if our crime is that, from day one we resolved and made it clear that we will not deal with any criminal gang, if our crime is that we will not interfere with the issues of chieftaincy, that we will work with the existing institutions that are known, recognised by law and the people, if this is why our government is under attack, so be it.”
Bariere maintained that his administration would not be intimidated into abandoning its principles, stressing that the security and wellbeing of the people remained paramount.
He further assured residents of Khana that the government would continue to work towards restoring peace and stability across the local government area.
The Council Chairman concluded with an appeal for confidence in the administration’s efforts, declaring: “But our assurance to the people of Khana is, good will always triumph over evil.”
