The victim of a kidnap incident that occurred on Monday, March 23, 2026 in Bonny, Rivers State (name withheld) has regained his freedom after 11 days in captivity.
This is as the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Abinye Pepple, and the Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base, Bonny, Captain Chukwuemeka Umeh vowed to deploy every necessary strategy to forestall any further kidnap incident in the area.

Presenting the abductee to the Bonny LGA Chairman, the FOB Commanding Officer expressed delight over his release by his captors, asserting that proactive measures were being put in place to ensure that residents of the area are adequately protected.
He sympathized with the wife of the victim and other members of his family over the incident, noting that security measures in place in the area were being reviewed with a view to forestalling any further kidnap incident.
On his part, the Chairman of Bonny LGA, Abinye Pepple expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the release of the abductee, empathizing with him over the unfortunate incident, commended the security agencies for their role in the release of the victim.

He vowed that his administration will do everything within its powers to ensure that the security of Bonny LGA was not compromised again, assuring the Navy and other security agencies of his administration’s support in the protection of lives and properties of citizens.
The kidnap victim thanked God Almighty for his freedom, as well as the Bonny LG Chairman and the security agencies for their roles in securing his release from captivity.
After his release, the abductee was conveyed to the FOB Medical Centre where he was attended to by medical personnel from the Nigerian Navy, and later debriefed by a joint team of security operatives.
