Kun Khalifat FC have confirmed their withdrawal from the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), taking a firm stand against what the club views as unfair and excessive disciplinary action by league organisers.

The decision was announced by the club’s owner in a public statement, stating that Kun Khalifat’s participation in the NPFL has ended with immediate effect following sanctions imposed for missing one league fixture.
Kun Khalifat Withdraws from NPFL After Controversial Punishment
The NPFL handed Kun Khalifat FC a three-point deduction, a three-goal loss, and a ₦10 million fine.
According to the club, the punishment failed to reflect the circumstances surrounding the missed fixture, despite explanations submitted to league authorities.
Khalifat described the ruling as disproportionate and lacking transparency, arguing that it reflects a wider problem within NPFL administration.
The club believes the league’s approach discourages growth and places unnecessary pressure on teams operating under difficult conditions.
Khalifat Calls for Accountability and Better NPFL Governance
In the statement, Kun Khalifat highlighted its long-standing commitment to professionalism, rule compliance, and investment in football development.

The club said those efforts were undermined by a system that prioritises sanctions over dialogue and fairness.
The club also urged fellow NPFL sides to speak up and push for reforms aimed at improving governance, accountability, and the overall health of Nigerian football.
While stepping away from the NPFL, Kun Khalifat reaffirmed its intention to continue developing talent and representing Nigerian football through other competitive platforms.
