Dumle Maol has fulfilled a campaign promise to his constituents with the commissioning of an educational project in Bua-Yeghe community, Gokana Local Government Area.
The project, commissioned on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, includes renovated classroom blocks, an ultramodern assembly hall and a fully equipped Information and Communication Technology centre.
Maol, who represents Gokana State Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly and serves as Deputy Speaker, said the intervention was nominated as part of his constituency efforts to improve learning infrastructure.
He described the facilities as more than physical structures, noting they represent an investment in the future of children in Gokana and a demonstration of his commitment to translate the mandate given to him into tangible development.
“When our people gave us their mandate, we made a commitment to use that opportunity to attract development and improve their lives. These projects are part of the fulfilment of that promise, particularly our commitment to creating an environment where our children can learn, acquire relevant skills and compete confidently in an increasingly digital world,” he said.
The ceremony was performed by Ken Chikere, leader of the Rainbow Coalition in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area. He commended the initiative and described the facilities as an important contribution to education in Bua-Yeghe, with benefits extending to other communities in the LGA.
Speaking at the event, Lesi Maol, President of the Khana, Gokana, Tai, Eleme Consultative Forum, KAGOTE, urged students in Bua-Yeghe and neighbouring communities to make good use of the facilities for academic excellence and digital empowerment. He also announced the donation of ten additional computers to add to the twenty already installed, bringing the total to thirty.
The Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Allwell Ihunda, congratulated the community on the completion of the projects and called on residents and leaders to take ownership and protect the facilities for long-term use. The event attracted community leaders, stakeholders, students and residents.
