As political activities hots up ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Okangh-Ama of Asarama Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, King Appolus Joseph Nteija Ewaye, JP, Asat VII, has called on political parties to ensure they conducting peaceful and orderly primaries.
The monarch made this call on Friday, May 15, 2026, via a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Isaac Urang, urging party leaders to guide their members and supporters toward conduct that upholds democratic values.

He emphasised the need for disputes arising from the primaries to be resolved through dialogue and established internal party mechanisms.
King Ewaye also cautioned against dragging the traditional institution into partisan politics.
He stressed that the Asarama throne belongs to all sons and daughters of the kingdom and must remain neutral at all times.
The royal father warned that any attempt to associate him or the traditional institution with political parties or candidates would be considered misleading and unacceptable.
