Nigerian forward Muhamed Tijani has completed a move to Hungarian side Újpest FC, arriving after an impressive spell in the NB I with Nyíregyháza during the second half of the 2025/26 season.
The 25-year-old striker made a strong impact during his loan stay, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 15 league appearances.
His performances established him as one of the division’s most productive attacking players and attracted interest ahead of the new campaign.

Although born in Nigeria, Muhammad developed much of his football career in the Czech Republic.
He joined Baník Ostrava as a youth player and gradually built his reputation through consistent performances across Czech football.
His breakthrough came in the Czech top flight, earning him a move to Slavia Praha in 2023.
During his time with the nine-time Czech champions, he featured in 33 matches and scored seven goals. The striker also gained experience through loan spells with Plymouth in England and Sigma Olomouc in the Czech Republic.
Újpest believe the Nigerian forward’s qualities will strengthen their attack ahead of the upcoming season.
“Tijani is a quality player who is a real reinforcement in the attacking line, where based on his abilities he solves problems that have been a serious problem until now.
His speed, physique and intensity of play will fundamentally contribute to our game becoming faster and more agile next season. I am happy that he has arrived and can immediately get involved in the work,” said Újpest FC sports director Pál Dárdai.

Standing at 191 cm, the powerful center-forward arrives in Hungary at what many consider the peak stage of his career. His combination of strength, pace and finishing ability is expected to provide Újpest with a significant attacking threat.
Having already adapted to the Hungarian league during his successful stint at Nyíregyháza, Muhammad is confident about the challenge ahead and eager to contribute to the club’s ambitions.
“I am very happy to be a player for Újpest. I know the league, I know the traditions and ambitions of the club I have joined. I have high expectations for myself and the team, so I will work hard every day to achieve our goals together and bring a lot of joy to the fans,” added our latest signing, Muhamed Tijani.
The move gives Újpest a proven goalscorer with recent NB I experience, while the Nigerian forward will look to build on the momentum from one of the most productive periods of his career.
Expectations are high, but both player and club will hope the partnership delivers success in the seasons ahead.
