MultiChoice Group has announced a restructuring of its DStv and GOtv subscription packages across African markets, introducing new package options and revised channel lineups from Thursday, November 5, 2026.
The announcement was made at a media briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, October 27, as the company seeks to simplify subscriptions, improve value for money and expand access to sports and entertainment.

Under the new Nigerian structure, DStv will offer Starter, Select, Sports and Premium packages, while GOtv will have Easy, Starter, Select and Sports options.
The new monthly DStv prices are ₦6,000 for Starter, ₦11,000 for Select, ₦21,000 for Sports and ₦44,500 for Premium.
MultiChoice Nigeria chief executive Kemi Omotosho said the changes followed a reassessment of the company’s business strategy.
“The fact on the table is we haven’t launched new products in a long time,” Omotosho said, adding that the company was “overhauling the entire strategy of the business.”
Existing DStv subscribers are expected to migrate automatically from November 5, with Access moving to Starter, Family to Select, Compact to Sports, and Compact Plus to Premium.
The company said subscribers who had paid in advance would retain their purchased package for the remainder of their subscription period.
The Starter package will introduce SuperSport KICKOFF, featuring the Premier League Match of the Week and selected UEFA Champions League fixtures, while the Sports package will provide all Premier League and Champions League matches alongside other sports programming.
Premium subscribers will retain additional sports, including Formula 1, MotoGP, tennis and golf.
MultiChoice also announced changes to its entertainment channels, including the merger of M-Net Movies 1 and 2 into M-Net Movies+, while Africa Magic Family will become Africa Magic+.

The restructuring will extend to other African markets, with package names and prices varying by country.
Omotosho said the company was also considering a replacement streaming service following Showmax’s shutdown but had not announced a launch date.
“We cannot leave that space empty,” she said, explaining that the company wanted a replacement with a strong customer experience.
The company is also exploring a pay-as-you-watch model in response to customer requests.
Meanwhile, CANAL+ Africa’s executive vice-president of content, Nomsa Philiso, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to African storytelling and wider content distribution.
“CANAL+ shares that commitment and continues to invest in African storytelling through increased production and global distribution opportunities,” Philiso said.
The new packages are expected to take effect on November 5, 2026, as MultiChoice seeks to offer subscribers clearer choices and improved access to its content.
